Frater Alchemoth Katharian
(bass guitar)

Frater Alchemoth KatharianBorn near Turin, he started to play bass guitar when he was seventeen years old. His main influences were, and still are, masters like Geddy Lee, Steve Harris and Geezer Butler, but he also appreciates Steve DiGiorgio and Les Claypool. The album that really changed his life was “Don’t Break The Oath” by Mercyful Fate: that recording led him to embrace the darkest side of heavy metal music. His favourite bands ever are Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Death SS, Deicide, Mortuary Drape, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rush and many others. Before joining Amethista, he played with Funeral Fog/Maldoror (“De Mysteriis Serpentis” and “Beyond a Bloodstained Moon” demotapes, and “Ars Magika” CD), Rangda (“Daughter Of Hell” demoCD) and Dismal (“Rubino Liquido”CD). He also played with melodic death/black metal act The Advent (“The Dark Is The Light” promoCD). Besides Amethista, he is also active with Obsend and Hellraisers. Musically speaking, his tastes range from all kinds of heavy metal music to progressive rock, from neofolk to electronic music, ecc. He has always been involved in occultism and esoteric studies, with special reference to Aleister Crowley's magical research; over the years, his interests widened still further and carried him increasingly into traditional studies.
